How RiseStrong collects, uses and protects your personal information. Last updated: October 2026.

Who we are

RiseStrong Safeguarding Training & Consultancy is run by Emily Mitchell-Merron as a sole trader. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.

What information we collect

• When you contact us: your name, organisation, email address, phone number and the details of your enquiry.
• When you join our newsletter: your email address and, if you give it, your name.
• When you book training or a consultation: your name, email address, organisation, job role and any access needs you tell us about. Payments are handled by our booking and payment providers. We do not see or store your full card details.
• When you attend training: attendance records, and for regulated qualifications, your assessment results.
• When we carry out consultancy: information provided by your organisation under our agreement with them.
• When you visit our website: basic usage information collected through cookies. See "Cookies" below.

How and why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• To manage bookings, deliver training, issue certificates and invoice. Legal basis: contract.
• To register learners and their results with our awarding organisation for regulated qualifications. Legal basis: contract.
• To send our newsletter and updates, only if you have signed up. Legal basis: consent.
• To keep financial and business records. Legal basis: legal obligation.

We will never sell your information or share it for other organisations' marketing.

Sensitive information

Safeguarding work can involve sensitive information. We only handle it where it is necessary for agreed training or consultancy work, under a written agreement with the organisation concerned, and with appropriate confidentiality and security in place. We ask that sensitive personal details are not shared through our contact form or by email unless we have agreed this with you.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run our business. They only use your information to provide their service to us:

• Squarespace (website, contact forms and newsletter)
• Acuity Scheduling, Calendly and Eventbrite (bookings)
• Zoom (online training)
• Microsoft 365 and Google (email and file storage)
• Xero and Stripe (invoicing and payments)
• Nuco Training (the awarding organisation for our regulated qualifications)

Some of these providers store data outside the UK. Where this happens, they use recognised legal safeguards to protect it.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries: up to 2 years after our last contact.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
• Training, certificate and financial records: up to 6 years, to meet legal and awarding body requirements.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
• ask us to correct or delete it
• object to, or ask us to limit, how we use it
• withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our newsletter

Cookies

Our website uses cookies to make it work and to understand how it is used. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the cookie banner, and change your browser settings at any time.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
