Meet Emily Mitchell-Merron
Founder of RiseStrong, registered social worker and creator of the CURIOUS® Framework
For more than a decade, I have worked on the front line of safeguarding: in children's services, in the family courts, in health care and alongside the military. RiseStrong exists to bring that experience into the rooms where safeguarding decisions are made, so that the people we are there to protect are noticed, heard and kept safe.
Built on practice, not theory
I have been a registered social worker for 14 years. I began in local authority children's services across London and the South East, before becoming a Family Court Adviser and Children's Guardian in public law, writing reports for the court on some of the most complex cases families can face.
I went on to lead safeguarding in independent mental health care, where I carried out internal investigations and gave evidence at fitness to practise hearings, and to manage services for young people. Along the way, I worked alongside the British Army in child protection and with military families, LGBTQ+ charities and community organisations.
In 2023, I founded RiseStrong. Today, I work with charities, schools, councils, health providers and global media and technology organisations, helping them build safeguarding that holds up when it matters.
An approach born on the front line
The CURIOUS® Framework grew out of my own practice, not a textbook. It gives professionals a structured, anti-racist way to stay curious, ask the next question and notice what others might miss.
It has been published in BASW's Professional Social Work magazine, shared with more than 250 practitioners in a single webinar, and is now a registered trademark used in training with organisations across sectors.
